It is 9/21/03, and I am 42 years
old as I write these words down. I have been playing drums since my early
teens with varying degrees of interest. I began by taking the usual route
of taking lessons and playing to old records before hooking up with an
all original band in the early 80’s and discovering the satisfaction of
creating my own beats and rhythms to our own music and realizing that there
are no rules in music. That was followed with my drumming for a fairly
active cover band playing mainly in the Akron / Canton area and an original
fusion project in between gigs that unfortunately never climbed the basement
stairs to see the light of day. I was basically a closet musician in the
90’s. Drumming quite often, but heard only by an uninterested audience
of paneling, carpet, and drywall. Finally in 1995, I sat down and wrote
a collection of songs for a CD that I’d hoped would give me the musical
satisfaction that I’d so long been searching for. The result was “The Crowning
of the Sun” under the fictitious band name of “No
Brass.” While it certainly fulfilled my inner needs, it also fueled
my desire to just get out and play again which eventually brought me directly
to “Tumbling Dice.” I feel as though I have come full circle musically
to a point where I am once again simply having fun playing music with a
great bunch of guys whom I hope to continue on with for some time. The
Rock & Roll table is a huge table able to accommodate many different
musicians and when I’m asked what exactly it is that I bring to the
table, my answer is always the same…………………………Folding chairs.
My 5 favorite bands in no particular
order are
I have played on a Tama Superstar
kit since 1985, and have just recently bought a Tama Starclassic performer
kit.
